Some people pray the obligatory prayers and fast in Ramadan, but they do not read the Qur'an except in Ramadan, and they justify this by saying that they are busy throughout the days of the year

The questioner : Some people pray the obligatory prayers and fast in Ramadan, but they do not read the Qur'an except in Ramadan, and they justify this by saying that they are busy throughout the days of the year. What is your opinion on this?

The Shaykh : My opinion on this is that there is no blame on them for this, because even if they do this, they have not abandoned the Qur'an. They read the Book of Allah in their prayers, they read it in their daily recitations, and they hear it from others, so there is no blame on them for this. However, I inform them that they have deprived themselves of much good, because when the Noble Qur'an is recited by the reciter, he gets one good deed for every letter, and the good deed is multiplied tenfold. So let them strive to recite the Qur'an. If they can set aside a specific amount for themselves daily that they maintain, so that their time is not wasted, that is better.
