The questioner : We welcome with great enthusiasm the honorable guests, relatives, friends, and in-laws. We wish you success, and we ask Allah for us and for you always to have happy celebrations in obedience to Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He). May Allah reward you with good for this presence. Now we present to you our esteemed professor and Shaykh,The Shaykh : Nasir al-Din al-Albani, the hadith scholar of the Islamic lands. Welcome and greetings to you. Please, our Shaykh.
The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, all praise is due to Allah, and may blessings and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah, his family, and his Companions, and upon those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment. It is perhaps appropriate that we remind our brothers present, on the occasion of the wedding of our brother Hasan ibn Abi 'Izzat Khadr, whom we congratulate on his wedding, just as our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to congratulate his Companions. So we say to him: May Allah bless you, bless her, and unite you both in goodness. Perhaps it is beneficial to remind our brothers present, on this occasion, of the purpose or wisdom for which Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) created humans, and with them the jinn. He created them for a very great purpose, which many or some of the Muslims often overlook. This purpose or wisdom is mentioned in the words of our Lord (Blessed and Exalted is He):Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 34:1432 Allah (Mighty and Majestic) created the male and the female so that man would fulfill this supreme wisdom by worshipping Allah (Mighty and Majestic) alone, having no partner. It is known that this purpose, which is the worship of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) for which the jinn and humans were created, as you have heard, cannot usually be realized except by two righteous spouses, so that they can cooperate in raising the offspring resulting from their union with righteous upbringing. For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) commanded the choice of a righteous woman first, and then the choice of a loving woman second. As for the first command, it is his saying (peace and blessings be upon him and his family): So stick to the one with faith, may your hands be dusted. This is a supplication from the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) against every man who chooses a wife not for her faith, but for something else besides faith, from what was mentioned in this hadith: A woman is married for four things: her wealth, her beauty, her lineage, and her faith. So whoever marries a woman for one of these three, other than the fourth, which is faith, the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) has supplicated against him with his saying: What does "may your hands be dusted" mean? Linguistically, "turbat" is derived from "turab" (dust), and it is a formula of supplication in which the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) prays for poverty, that Allah should stick his body to the dust, which is an idiom for Allah (Mighty and Majestic) making him extremely poor, because he did not choose a righteous wife, one with faith. A woman is married for four things: her wealth, her beauty, her lineage, and her faith. The fourth is what the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) encourages, saying: O suitor, O one who is getting married, otherwise may Allah make your hands poor. This is a supplication against him for poverty, God forbid. This is the first hadith in which our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) commanded every man who wants to marry a woman to choose one who is religious and righteous.
