What is the meaning of: continuous passing of wind

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And may Allah protect you.

The questioner : I would like to listen to your stories, I mean.

The Shaykh : And others also like to listen to your stories.

The questioner : Today, I was withThe Shaykh : Muhammad Abu 'Adi, and we were sitting in a session. As far as I know, he has urinary incontinence today. I heard the term "continuous passing of wind" before, but this is the first time I have heard this specific phrase, so I said I would ask what the meaning of "continuous passing of wind" is, if this term exists.

The Shaykh : This is one of the diseases. It may be a real disease, or it may be an imagined one. As for the real disease, perhaps every one of us may be affected by it at times as a result of a type of food that enters the stomach and causes gas. Naturally, if this continues with him from time to time, like urinary incontinence, he is included among those who have an excuse. The second type, which is imagined, involves nothing coming out of them, but rather the illusion they may experience due to Satan's whispering to them. The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said in a hadith narrated by al-Bukhari that when a person stands to pray, Satan comes and whispers to him, taking a hair from his backside and pulling it, making him think that something has come out of him. He (peace be upon him) said this as advice and instruction for his Ummah:
So he should not leave until he smells wind or hears a sound فلا ينصرفن حتى يجد ريحًا أو يسمع صوتًا
Musannaf Abd al-Razzaq 1:514
This is an illusion, whereas that is a reality. Therefore, the Muslim should be mindful of himself and pay attention to whether it is a reality, such that due to being affected by certain foods, this wind comes out of him. In that case, if it is frequent, as we mentioned, like one who has urinary incontinence, he must not pray until he performs wudu for every prayer. If it is the other type, which happens frequently to some people, he should drive Satan's whispering out of his mind and not leave his prayer. Rather, I say he should not rule his wudu invalid unless he smells wind or hears a sound.
