The questioner : He says: I used to memorize approximately ten parts of the Noble Qur'an, but since three years ago I have forgotten what I had memorized except for a little, and that is due to my studies, so is there a sin upon me for that, and do I fall under the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Thus did Our signs come to you, and you forgot them; and thus will you this Day be forgotten." كَذلِكَ أَتَتكَ ءاياتُنا فَنَسيتَها وَكَذلِكَ اليَومَ تُنسى
[Taha 20:126]
?

The Shaykh : You do not fall under this verse, because the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Thus did Our signs come to you, and you forgot them كَذلِكَ أَتَتكَ ءاياتُنا فَنَسيتَها
[Taha 20:126]
means that you abandoned it, meaning you abandoned acting upon it, you did not raise your head with it, and you did not see any harm in contradicting it. This is the meaning of "forgetting" here, and "forgetting" comes to mean "abandoning," as in the saying of Allah the Exalted:
They have forgotten Allah, so He has forgotten them نَسُوا اللَّهَ فَنَسِيَهُم
[At-Tawbah 9:67]
, meaning their abandonment, for the Lord, Mighty and Majestic, does not forget the kind of forgetting that is the opposite of remembrance.
However, it is not befitting for one whom Allah has blessed with the memorization of the Qur'an to neglect it until he forgets it; rather, he should preserve it and review it, for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded that, saying:
Keep refreshing your knowledge of the Qur'an, for I swear by Him in Whose Hand is the life of Mahammad that it is more liable to escape than camels which are hobbled. تعاهدوا القرءان فوالذي نفسي بيده لهو أشدّ تفلّتا من الإبل في عُقُلها
Sahih Muslim 791
If it is possible for you now, and I hope it will be possible for you to restore what has passed, and if its restoration is easy, then seek help from Allah, turn to the Qur'an, recall what you have forgotten, and ask Allah to open it up for you and remind you of what you have forgotten.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
