Is it obligatory for the follower to recite al-Fatihah behind the imam, or is the imam's recitation considered his recitation? And when is al-Fatihah dropped from the follower?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Is it obligatory for the follower to recite al-Fatihah behind the imam, or is the imam's recitation considered his recitation? And when is al-Fatihah dropped from the follower?

The Shaykh : The stronger position is that it is obligatory for the follower to recite al-Fatihah, just as it is obligatory for the imam and the one praying alone, due to the generality of the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
There is no Salat for the one who does not recite Fatihatil-Kitab.
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 247Sahih (Darussalam)
There is no difference between the loud and the quiet prayers due to the generality of the evidence, and because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) led his companions in the Fajr prayer one day, and when he finished, he said:
Perhaps you recite behind your imam?
Sunan Abi Dawud 823Da'if (Al-Albani)
They said: Yes. He said:
Do not do that, except for Umm Al-Kitab, for there is no Salat for one who does not recite it.
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 311Sahih (Darussalam)
And the Fajr prayer is a loud prayer.
If someone were to say: What do you say about the saying of Allah the Exalted:
So when the Qur'an is recited, then listen to it and pay attention that you may receive mercy.
[Al-A'raf 7:204]
? The answer is that this verse is general, and the hadith:
There is no Salat for the one who does not recite Fatihatil-Kitab.
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 247Sahih (Darussalam)
is specific, so the generality of the verse is restricted by it. However, reciting al-Fatihah is an exception, as it is necessary even if the imam is reciting. As for reciting anything other than al-Fatihah, it is not permissible if the imam is reciting, due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Do not do that, except for Umm Al-Kitab
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 311Sahih (Darussalam)
Al-Fatihah is dropped from the one who enters the prayer with the imam while he is bowing. In this case, the one entering says the takbir of ihram while standing, then bows. Likewise, if he enters before the bowing but is unable to complete the recitation because the imam is close to bowing, and he bows before completing the recitation of al-Fatihah, it is dropped from him in this case, because the recitation of al-Fatihah is only obligatory while standing. So if standing is dropped in order to follow the imam, the obligatory remembrance within it is dropped. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you and bless you. The questioner says: O honorable Shaykh.
