Does the one who makes a vow have the right to eat from his vow?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : May Allah reward you. The second question: One of the brothers vowed that if he succeeded in his studies or such, he would slaughter a sacrificial animal.

The Shaykh : What?

The questioner : One of the brothers slaughtered a sacrificial animal. Is he, the one who made the vow, allowed to eat from his sacrificial animal?

The Shaykh : It depends on the intention. If his intention with this sacrificial animal is to thank Allah (Mighty and Majestic) for his success, then he does not eat from it; he gives it all in charity. If his intention is to celebrate and show joy, then let him invite to it whom he wishes and eat from it with them.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
