What is the ruling of the Shari'ah in your view regarding a man who says something like this?

The questioner : What is the ruling of the Shari'ah in your view regarding a man who says something like this: "If it were not for saddening people, I would inform every person of the day on which he will die." You say that my father believes this man and says that he is a scholar and that no one will come after him with greater knowledge. It is known that this man has died, but my father has not forgotten this man. What is the ruling of the Shari'ah in your view regarding this?

The Shaykh : As for his ruling, yes, I say that if he believed this man, he has committed disbelief in what was revealed to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), because he believed in a matter that contradicts the saying of Allah the Exalted: It is well known that the time of a person's death is a hidden matter that no one knows except Allah (Mighty and Majestic). So whoever claims to know it is a liar. The man who claims that he knows when people will die is a liar without a doubt, and the one who believes him is a disbeliever by His saying, the Exalted: My advice to your father is that he should repent to Allah (Mighty and Majestic) from believing this man, and that he should hold the belief that he is a lying, superstitious man, and it is not permissible to believe in what he claims of knowledge of the unseen. Yes.
