A word on the hadith: (… Behold, I have been given the Qur'an and with it its like).

The Shaykh : Is there anything in the Sunnah that clarifies this verse and restricts it or specifies it? Yes, we have found that the Muslim scholar truly has no choice but to combine the Book and the Sunnah in understanding, as he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Behold, the Messenger of Allah has forbidden what is like what Allah has forbidden. Therefore, there is no way to separate the Qur'an from the Sunnah, ever. So whoever says, "We interpret the Qur'an with the Qur'an, then with the Sunnah," has proceeded from a denounced hadith. Rather, we interpret the Qur'an with the Qur'an and the Sunnah together. Then, if we do not find an interpretation for a verse in the Qur'an or in the Sunnah, we refer to our righteous predecessors, especially the Companions who were directly addressed by the words of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and it was also interpreted and explained to them with complete explanation. Therefore, I say regarding the brother you mentioned, I think the least that can be said—and I do not know the extent of his knowledge—is that he is unaware of this reality. And this is a bitter negligence, in fact, especially if that severe judgment comes from him, namely that if he does not repent, he will be killed. So inform him that I insist that I am a Salafi upon the Book and the Sunnah and upon the methodology of the righteous predecessors. And whoever does not adopt this school, there is no difference between him and the Rafidah, and there is no doubt that in the lands of Najd, between him and the Rafidah, there is no difference at all.
Abu Layla : And we are with you, O our Shaykh.
The Shaykh : May Allah reward you with good.
Another questioner : An important question, O Shaykh. May Allah reward you with good.
The Shaykh : Leave the questions for our guests, my brother.
None of you should sit leaning back on his couch and say, "This is the Book of Allah, so whatever we find therein as lawful, we make lawful, and whatever we find therein as forbidden, we make forbidden. Behold, I have been given the Qur'an and with it its like."
لا يقعدن أحدكم متكئا على أريكته يقول هذا كتاب الله فما وجدنا فيه حلالاً حللناه وما وجدنا فيه حراماً حرمناه ألا إني أوتيت القرآن ومثله معهAbu Layla : And we are with you, O our Shaykh.
The Shaykh : May Allah reward you with good.
Another questioner : An important question, O Shaykh. May Allah reward you with good.
The Shaykh : Leave the questions for our guests, my brother.
