The Shaykh : Then, on this night, we listened to our imam, may Allah guide him and reward him with good, when he recited in the witr prayer "Izha Zalzilat" and "Al-Asr," so that it becomes clear to the general public that it is not obligatory for a person to recite "Subha" and "Qul ya ayyuha al-kafirun" in the witr; it is not obligatory. Recite whatever is easy for you. However, it is true that and are obligatory and better than others in this prayer, just as "Subha" and "Al-Ghashiyah" are better than others in the Friday prayer, and "Al-Jumu'ah" and "Al-Munafiqun" are better than others in the Friday prayer. But it is permissible to recite whatever is easy for you. The entire Qur'an can be recited in any prayer. So recite whatever is easy for you from the Qur'an. If he recites in the witr something other than the surah [Al-Ikhlas 112:1], is it permissible? And is his witr completed? It is completed, because reciting Al-Ikhlas is only a matter of recommended practice, not obligation.
