Whoever fasts Ramadan out of faith and seeking reward, Allah will forgive him what has passed of his sins.

من صام رمضان إيماناً واحتساباً غفر الله له ما تقدم من ذنبه

Whoever stands in prayer in Ramadan with faith and seeking reward, Allah will forgive him his previous sins.

, these are three matters, all of which are causes for the forgiveness of sins. Woe to the one who misses these causes. There are three causes for the forgiveness of sins in this month; if a person misses them, he is a loser. If his fasting does not expiate his sins, he has lost. If his standing in prayer does not expiate his sins, if his standing on the Night of Decree does not expiate his sins, he has lost. We ask Allah to make us and you among the winners in this month.
