The Meaning of the Saying of Allah the Exalted: "He begets not, nor was He begotten. And there is none comparable to Him."

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The book *Al-Furqan* by the Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, which distinguishes between the close friends of Allah and the close friends of Satan, mentions some wondrous things that happened to some of the righteous Salaf. So the point is that we say:
Allah, the Self-Sufficient
What is its meaning? The One who is perfect in His attributes, to whom all His creations turn for support
(3) He neither begets nor is born, (4) Nor is there to Him any equivalent." لم يلد ولم يولد * ولم يكن له كفؤا أحد
[Al-Ikhlas 112:3-4]
.
He begets not لم يلد
This is a refutation of what the Christians claimed, what the Jews claimed, and what the polytheists claimed. What did the Christians say? They said, "The Messiah is the son of Allah." And the Jews said, "Uzair is the son of Allah." And the polytheists said, "The angels are the daughters of Allah." So Allah the Exalted said:
He begets not لم يلد
He did not beget, and He did not take a son either; He did not adopt anyone, as He said:
Allah has not taken any son
[Al-Mu'minun 23:91]
nor was He begotten ولم يولد
Likewise, He was not begotten. And although no one claimed this, but for the sake of the antithesis, it is
He neither begets nor is born,
[Al-Ikhlas 112:3]
So there is nothing before Him (Mighty and Majestic). He is the First, before whom there is nothing, and He is self-sufficient regarding everyone, so He does not need a son.
Nor is there to Him any equivalent." ولم يكن له كفوا أحد
[Al-Ikhlas 112:4]
This means that no one is comparable to Him in all His attributes and in all His actions. Look at 'Aad; Allah the Exalted gave them a strength that He did not give to any other human being, until they said:
Who is greater than us in strength?
[Fussilat 41:15]
What did Allah say? He said:
Did they not consider that Allah who created them was greater than them in strength?
[Fussilat 41:15]
So no one is comparable to Him. Then look at these who said
Who is greater than us in strength?
[Fussilat 41:15]
By what were they destroyed? By the gentlest of things: the gentle wind. Allah (Mighty and Majestic) sent it, and it would take one of them until he would be in the sky, then he would turn over on his head, refuge with Allah, and they became
as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees.
[Al-Haqqah 69:7]
.
Pharaoh said to his people:
O my people, I have the kingship of Egypt
Yes, I forgot the beginning of the verse:
O my people, does not the kingdom of Egypt belong to me, and these rivers flowing beneath me; then do you not see? (52) Or am I [not] better than this one who is insignificant
[Az-Zukhruf 43:51-52]
He is referring to Musa
hardly makes himself clear?
[Az-Zukhruf 43:52]
So by what was Pharaoh destroyed? He was destroyed by what he boasted about: by the water. He was destroyed by drowning. So it became clear by this that Allah the Exalted has no equal
Nor is there to Him any equivalent." ولم يكن له كفؤا أحد
[Al-Ikhlas 112:4]
These are few words regarding these three great surahs. If people had wanted to speak about all the meanings contained in them, it would have required volumes, because they are among the greatest of the surahs. But we spoke about a little, and we ask Allah the Exalted to benefit me and you with it. And the speech ends here until we return to the questions. And we ask Allah for success in correctness.
