The Meaning of the Saying of Allah the Exalted: "And those who harm believing men and believing women without what they have earned have certainly taken upon themselves a slander and an evident sin."

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The third category of harm: harm to whom? To the believers.
And those who harm believing men and believing women for [something] other than what they have earned have certainly born upon themselves a slander and manifest sin. والذين يؤذون المؤمنين والمؤمنات بغير ما اكتسبوا فقد احتملوا بهتاناً وإثما مبيناً
[Al-Ahzab 33:58]
And those who harm believing men and believing women for [something] other than what they have earned والذين يؤذون المؤمنين والمؤمنات بغير ما اكتسبوا
[Al-Ahzab 33:58]
These people
taken upon themselves a slander احتملوا بهتاناً
meaning a lie,
and an evident sin وإثماً مبيناً
meaning a punishment. Here, the curse is not mentioned, and the humiliating punishment is not mentioned. Why? Because insulting Allah and His Messenger is greater than insulting the believers, without a doubt. Insulting the believers does not lead to disbelief, but insulting Allah and His Messenger is disbelief.
