(The Ash'ari's affirmation of the believers' seeing their Lord on the Day of Resurrection, contrary to the Asha'irah and their doubts, and the refutation of them) and it is also explicit that Allah on the Day of *** the Gathering
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Very well.
"And it is also explicit that Allah on the Day of *** the Gathering, the people of faith will see Him"
This means the seeing of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), that Allah is seen on the Day of the Gathering, meaning the Day of Resurrection
"Openly, they see Allah above His sky *** with the vision of direct sight, just as the two moons are seen"
Who is the one who said this? The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2554Sahih (Darussalam), and he said: , and is there a more explicit confirmation than this? Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2554Sahih (Darussalam) This vision is addressed by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to a people who understand the Arabic language, and that it is a real vision. But the Asha'irah denied the seeing of Allah, and they said: Allah is not seen. How is He seen? Is He a body to be seen? It is not possible for Him to be seen. And our evidence, they say, our evidence is from the Noble Qur'an [Al-An'am 6:103] This is one point. And they said to Musa "La" is a negation of perpetuity, meaning: You will not see Me, neither in this world nor in the Hereafter. How do you say that Allah is seen?!
We say to them: Praise be to Allah who made what you used as evidence against you,[Al-An'am 6:103] indicates that He is seen, because if He were not seen, He would have said "You will not see Him." So when He negated the more specific, it indicated the existence of the more general, which is vision, and that there is a vision but without comprehension. They said: Glory be to Allah! Is it possible to have vision without comprehension? It is possible. You are now seeing the sun and not comprehending it. Vision without comprehension is possible, even though we say: if we were to concede for the sake of argument that vision without comprehension is not possible in the created, then this is possible in the Creator, because Allah [Ash-Shuraa 42:11], and if we do not encompass knowledge of Allah while we encompass knowledge of the created things that we comprehend, then this is likewise the case.
As for His saying:, the verse is also evidence against you. The verse is evidence against you, because if we made vision impossible in the case of Allah, and it is impossible in your view because seeing Allah is a deficiency in their claim, they say: if Allah is seen, then He is a body, and a body is a deficiency. If vision were impossible because it is a deficiency in the case of Allah, is it possible for a messenger from the Ulul 'Azm to ask for it? Huh? Answer, everyone.
The student: It is not possible.
The Shaykh : It is not possible, just as it is not possible for a messenger among the resolute prophets to say: "O my Lord, show me Your weakness or show me Your injustice." It is not possible. So if Musa asked, this indicates the possibility of seeing [Allah], but in this world it is not possible because humans are unable to bear it. For this reason, Allah said to him: meaning in this world. Why? Because one cannot bear the vision. But look at the mountain, as an analogy. Look at the mountain; if it remains in its place, you will see Me. He looked at the mountain [Al-A'raf 7:143] and it crumbled into dust and he was overwhelmed by the greatness of the Lord, Mighty and Majestic [Al-A'raf 7:143].
So, the verse contains what indicates the possibility of vision by Musa's asking for it.
And as for their saying: that "La" does not imply perpetuity, this is a statement refuted by the Qur'an, yes, because Allah said:[Al-Baqarah 2:95] look [Al-Baqarah 2:95] and yet Allah informed us about the people of the Fire that they say [Az-Zukhruf 43:77] they wish for death, and He says: [Al-Baqarah 2:95] so He brought "abada" (forever). So "La" in His saying: when? In this world. As for the Hereafter, it has another matter. So what we attribute to Allah is that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) is seen on the Day of Resurrection by sight, but we do not encompass Him, because Allah is greater and more exalted than for the eyes to comprehend Him. Yes, he said:
"And it is also explicit"
