Hanging pictures of mountains and valleys in houses and the like.
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner: My masterThe Shaykh : There are pictures in houses that depict religious scenes, and there are pictures that depict the greatness of the Creator, and there are natural landscapes where you say, "Glory be to the Creator who created this," and you leave them in the house on the basis that they are for the greatness of the Creator... What Allah created, such as these mountains and these valleys, what is the ruling?
The Shaykh : There is no objection, except for pictures of living beings; it is permissible. A man came to 'Abdullah ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) and said, "My trade and craft are in these pictures." He mentioned to him the hadith we previously mentioned, that the one who makes these pictures will be tasked on the Day of Resurrection to breathe life into them, and he will not be able to do so. Then Ibn 'Abbas said, and this is the point, "If it is absolutely necessary, then make pictures of things that have no life."
