The questioner : In the noble verse:
Indeed, Allah confers blessing upon the Prophet, and His angels [ask Him to do so]. O you who have believed, ask [Allah to confer] blessing upon him and ask [Allah to grant him] peace.
[Al-Ahzab 33:56]
he asks: What is the manner of sending blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)? And what is the meaning of sending blessings in the verse?

The Shaykh : The manner of sending blessings is to say: “O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad.” The complete form is to say:
O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent blessings upon Ibrahim and upon the family of Ibrahim. Indeed, You are Praiseworthy, Majestic. And send peace upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent peace upon Ibrahim and upon the family of Ibrahim. Indeed, You are Praiseworthy, Majestic.
As-Sunan al-Kubra lil-Nasa'i 5:436
especially when one is praying. This is the required manner. As for the sending of blessings from Allah (Mighty and Majestic), it has been said that it is praising the one upon whom blessings are sent in the highest assembly. It has also been said that it is a high rank above mercy, but we do not know what it is. It has also been said that the sending of blessings from Allah is mercy, but this view is weak due to the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Those are the ones upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy
[Al-Baqarah 2:157]
where mercy is conjoined with blessings, indicating that it is not the same as mercy. As for a person, if he supplicates that Allah sends blessings upon His Prophet, it means that He places His blessings upon him. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you. The questioner, Abu 'Abdullah from al-Qasim, says:
