The questioner : What is the ruling on hiring women

The Shaykh : What is the ruling... let him speak, no, my brother, do not teach him, you have no right, yes

The questioner : What is the ruling on hiring women to play the hand drum

The Shaykh : What is the ruling

The Shaykh : Fine, all that is left for you is this movement only. The damma is wrong and the fatha is wrong, only the kasrah remains. Read.

The questioner : What is the ruling on hiring women.

The Shaykh : You stopped.

The questioner : What is the ruling on hiring women to play the hand drum?

The Shaykh : Good, if Allah wills, we will be patient, go ahead, yes.
Hiring women to play the hand drum on the wedding night is permissible. Why? Because it is hiring for a permissible act, and it is even a recommended practice. And whatever is the compensation for something lawful is itself lawful. But I have heard that there is extravagance in hiring them, because a woman is hired for one hundred riyals, or not?
The student: Five thousand

The Shaykh : Huh?
The student: Eight thousand

The Shaykh : She works for one hour for one hundred riyals, but the brother says: that it is for five thousand riyals. If that is the case, it is a waste of money. Five thousand riyals are given to a woman to play the hand drum for one or two hours; that is a waste of money.
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : No doubt you have heard what the brother said, that some women, the singers who play the hand drum, amplify this with loudspeakers, and this results in fitnah (trial, discord or temptation), because perhaps a woman’s voice is sweet and it arouses fitnah, and this causes harm to the neighbors. But this matter is referred to the authorities in the country; they must prevent what causes harm or fitnah.
This is the last question. Fine, and goodbye until tomorrow after the Maghrib prayer, if Allah wills. And all praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.
