Is it permissible to hang verses from the Qur'an in an amulet for children, and what is the Sunnah regarding their protection?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : A questioner asks: Is it permissible to hang a verse in an amulet, such as the Verse of the Throne, around the neck of a small child with the intention of protecting him from Satan? If this is not permissible, what is the Sunnah in this matter?

The Shaykh : The Sunnah regarding the protection of young children is for a person to recite directly to them; he should recite the Verse of the Throne and the two chapters of seeking refuge (al-Mu'awwidhat) to them, and supplicate to Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) to protect them from evil. As for hanging these verses, it is either forbidden according to the opinion of some scholars, or it is disliked if harm or illness befalls the child. However, if no illness befalls him, then it is not permissible. Furthermore, hanging a verse on a boy involves a type of disrespect to the verses. Why? Because the boy enters the place of relief and becomes ritually impure; urine and filth may touch it. This is undoubtedly a degradation of the words of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
