What is the ruling on writing Qur'anic verses on a board and then washing it and having the patient drink the water?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : May Allah reward you with good. A questioner asks: What is the ruling on writing Qur'anic verses on a board and then washing the vessel with water and having the patient drink it? Please advise us, and may Allah reward you.

The Shaykh : This is for the sick person. One writes for the sick person on a board with saffron or something similar, washes it, and the sick person drinks it. This was done by some of the Salaf, and they cited as evidence the general statement of Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He:
And We send down of the Qur'an that which is healing and mercy for the believers
[Al-Isra 17:82]
So, any method that utilizes the Qur'an for healing, provided it is not forbidden, is permissible. However, it is better than this to recite directly to the sick person; reciting to the sick person is the best. It is not hidden from some of you the story of the delegation
The ones the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) sent, who then descended upon a people
but these people were deprived of the good
They did not host them لم يضيفوهم
they did not offer them hospitality
So Allah sent a scorpion against their leader, which stung him, and it was a severe sting. They said, "Is there anyone among you who can recite?" They said, "Perhaps these people who descended upon you, if you move aside, they might recite." So they came to the Companions and said, "Our leader has been stung. Is there anyone among you who can recite?" They said, "Yes, but we will not recite for you except for a reward. You denied us our right to hospitality. We will not recite for you except for something from the sheep." They said, "There is no problem, we will give you the sheep." So one of the Companions went and recited the Fatihah for him.
The Fatihah. He recited it for him. Recite the Fatihah. I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan.

The questioner : I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan. In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Master of the Day of Judgment. You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help. Guide us to the straight path. The path of those upon whom You have bestowed favor, not of those who have earned Your anger, nor of those who are astray.

The Shaykh : Well done.
He recited the Fatihah for him
And all of you know the Fatihah.
And he would spit on him and recite, spitting and reciting. So the stung man rose as if released from a bond, without any turning.
The meaning of "released from a bond" is like a beast that, when its bond is untied, runs off. This is one of the signs of Allah.
When they returned to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), the matter seemed unclear to them: should they take this reward or not? So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the reciter: "What makes you think it is a ruqyah?"
That is, what made you know that it is a ruqyah? That is, it is used as a ruqyah for the sick, and they are healed by the permission of Allah. This question is for clarification. And regarding the sheep, he said:
Narrated Abu Sa’id Al Khudri: Some of the Companions of Prophet (ﷺ) went on a journey. They encamped with a clan of the Arabs and sought hospitality from them, but they refused to provide them with any hospitality. The chief of the clan was stung by a scorpion or bitten by a snake. They gave him all sorts of treatment, but nothing gave him relied. One of them said: Would that you had gone to those people who encamped with you ; some of them might have something which could give you relief to your companion. (So they went and) one of them said: Our chief has been stung by a scorpion or bitten by a snake. We administered all sorts of medicine but nothing gave him relief. Has any of you anything, i.e. charm, which gives healing to our companion. One of those people said: I shall apply charm; we sought hospitality from you, but you refused to entertain us. I am not going to apply charm until you give me some wages. So they offered them a number of sheep. He then came to and recited Faithat-al-Kitab and spat until he was cured as if he were set free from a bond. Thereafter they made payment of the wages as agreed by them. They said: Apportion (the wages). The man who applied the charm said: Do not do until we come to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and consult him. So they came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) next morning and mentioned it to him. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: From where did you learn that it was a charm ? You have done right. Give me a share along with you.
Sunan Abi Dawud 3418
May Allah send prayers and peace upon him. Why did he say: "Make a share for me from it"? Was it because of his need, or to reassure them that there is no harm in it? It was to reassure them that there is no harm in it. Therefore, a scholar should, when he issues a ruling that is unusual and he fears that the hearts of the questioners will not be at ease with it, do so until their hearts are at ease.
And how beautiful is the story, and how beautiful is the story about Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him). Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah was given by Allah, the Exalted, knowledge of the transmitted and knowledge of the reasoned. That is, Allah, the Exalted, gave him knowledge of the athar and knowledge of reason. He had such rational and textual evidence that he could silence his opponent. Indeed, (may Allah have mercy on him) would use the texts his opponent cited to argue against his opponent. When the Tatars descended upon Sham, and the fitnah of the Tatars is well known, a great fitnah, but Allah, the Exalted, sets some people against others. They entered Damascus in Ramadan, and he (may Allah have mercy on him) issued a ruling to the soldiers that they should break their fast so that they could strengthen themselves for what? For jihad and fighting. A fasting person cannot strengthen himself for this. Others from the scholars were consulted, and they said: You have no dispensation to break your fast. Breaking the fast is only for illness or travel, and you have neither illness nor travel, so you have no dispensation. As for him (may Allah have mercy on him), he insisted that they had a dispensation and cited as evidence the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) during the expedition of the Conquest, which was in Ramadan. When he approached Makkah, he said to his companions:
You will meet the enemy tomorrow, and breaking the fast is stronger for you, so break your fast.
He encouraged them to break their fast because it would be stronger for them. This indicates that if a person breaks his fast for fighting in the cause of Allah, there is no blame on him. And yet, (may Allah have mercy on him) would walk in the ranks of the Muslims with a piece of bread, eating it in Ramadan. For what? For what, people? To reassure them that he did not issue a ruling except out of conviction. And a person's conviction in action is stronger than his conviction in words, correct? Do you agree with this? Good. There is evidence for this. When the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah occurred between the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and Quraysh,
He ordered his companions, meaning the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), to break their state of ihram and shave their heads.
but do you know that the conditions in the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah were heavy and great for the believers?
So they hesitated somewhat, hesitating in the hope that Allah would bring about a relief. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered upon one of the Mothers of the Believers in anger, and she said, “What is the matter with you?” He said, “I ordered them to break their state of ihram and shave their heads, but they did not hasten to do so.” She said, “Go out to them and do not speak to anyone. Call for the barber and let him shave your head, and do not speak to anyone.” So he (peace and blessings be upon him) did so. He went out and called for the barber, who shaved his head. Then they were almost killing one another over who would shave first.
Why? Because they were convinced. And a person's conviction in action is stronger than his conviction in words. Yes.
