Explaining what the praying person does if he forgets the first tashahhud.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : If he stands up from the first tashahhud and continues standing, then remembers that he did not sit, does he go back or not?
The student: He does not go back.

The Shaykh : He does not go back, and the difference between the two is clear, because an addition invalidates the prayer, whereas if one forgets the first tashahhud, the prayer is not invalidated by it. So if he passes its place, it is dropped from him, and it is obligatory for him to compensate for it with sujud al-sahw (the prostration for forgetfulness), unlike an addition, where he must go back. We ask Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) to make us and you among those who know and act, and to guide us to what is good and righteous.
