The Meaning of the Saying of Allah the Exalted: "And he certainly saw Him in another descent, at the Lote Tree of the Utmost Limit, near which is the Garden of Refuge, when the Lote Tree was covered by what covered it. The sight did not deviate nor did it transgress. He certainly saw of the greatest signs of his Lord."

The Shaykh : Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, says:
(12) So will you dispute with him over what he saw? (13) And he certainly saw him in another descent (14) At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary - أفتمارونه على ما يرى ولقد رآه نزلة أخرى عند سدرة المنتهى
[An-Najm 53:12-14]
Who is the doer of "saw"? The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). And to whom does the pronoun refer? To Jibril. That is, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw Jibril again at the Lote Tree of the Utmost Limit. It is called the Lote Tree of the Utmost Limit because what is raised from the earth ends there. It is a lote tree, but it is not like the common lote tree.
Its dates are like the water jars of Hijr, and its leaves are like the ears of elephants. Thus the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) described it. But it was overcome by a covering, a covering of majesty and beauty that cannot be described.
Allah the Exalted said:
(16) When there covered the Lote Tree that which covered [it]. (17) The sight [of the Prophet] did not swerve, nor did it transgress [its limit]. إذ يغشى السدرة ما يغشى ما زاغ البصر وما طغى
[An-Najm 53:16-17]
May Allah reward the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) for this great and wondrous matter. His sight did not deviate and it did not transgress. When we see something wondrous, our eyes do what? They turn right and left. What Allah willed, what is this, what is this, what is this? But the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) did not let his sight deviate; he did not go beyond what he was permitted to look at, and it did not transgress, meaning it did not waver and it did not transgress, meaning it did not exceed.
(17) The sight [of the Prophet] did not swerve, nor did it transgress [its limit]. (18) He certainly saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. ما زاغ البصر وما طغى لقد رأى من آيات ربه الكبرى
[An-Najm 53:17-18]
Who does the pronoun in "saw" refer to? The pronoun refers to whom? The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). Of the greatest signs of his Lord. We want the brother to parse "the greatest" for us. Are you a person of grammar? Yes, are you a person of grammar? Please, stand up.
The student: It is a superlative noun.

The Shaykh : I do not want its form; its form is a superlative noun, correct. We want its parsing. Be patient, my brother, parse it. 0
He certainly saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. لقد رأى من آيات ربه الكبرى
[An-Najm 53:18]
.
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : Allah knows best. May Allah bless you.
The student: "The greatest" is a description for "signs."

The Shaykh : A description for "signs." He saw from the great signs, and the object of "saw" is omitted, meaning: He certainly saw from the greatest signs of his Lord, something that is great and magnificent, is that right?
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : How? But where is the object of "saw"?
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : Rest, brother. Yes.
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : "The greatest" only, this is the brother's statement, meaning there is an omission in the speech, estimated as: He saw, he certainly saw from the greatest signs of his Lord, what he saw of the great matters, is that right? There is no power and no strength except by Allah.
There are two parsings: The parsing the brother mentioned, that "the greatest" is a description for "signs" and the object of "saw" is omitted, and the estimation is: He certainly saw from the greatest signs of his Lord, what he saw of the great dates. The second opinion is that "the greatest" is the object of "saw," and the estimation is: He certainly saw the greatest of the signs of his Lord, and what the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) saw is the greatest of the signs. The first opinion is better, that "the greatest" is a description and the object is what? Omitted. This is what I wanted to speak about regarding what we heard from our imam's recitation in the Fajr prayer. And we ask Allah the Exalted to grant us and you the recitation of the Book of Allah in word and meaning, in understanding and in action. What? What?
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : Did you see that with your own eyes? Did you see it with your own eyes? I saw a man with his foot on the mushaf. I seek refuge in Allah. One of the brothers told you about this brother who told you...
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : O Hasan, be steady.
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : I do not think a person would put his foot on the mushaf, O Shaykh.
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : In any case, my statement is enough for a thousand words that this cannot happen from a Muslim, that he would put his foot on the mushaf, never.
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : Yes, some people mentioned the hadith in a distorted way.
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : Yes, on his knee, there is no harm. He puts it on the knee. Is there anything under the knee?
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : No, this does not happen. This does not happen. He puts it at the foot? Yes, you understand this. In any case, it is obligatory for the Muslim to respect the Book of Allah, Mighty and Majestic. And for this reason, it is not permissible for anyone to touch it except one who is pure and has performed wudu'. So it is obligatory to respect the words of Allah. If we do not respect the words of Allah, whose words do we respect? Come, hadith, yes.
