The Meaning of the Saying of Allah the Exalted: "…And when it is said to them, 'Come, the Messenger of Allah will seek forgiveness for you,' they turn their heads and you see them turning away, and they are arrogant. It is the same for them whether you seek forgiveness for them or you do not seek forgiveness for them. Allah will not forgive them. Indeed, Allah does not guide the corrupt people. They are the ones who say, 'Do not spend on those with the Messenger of Allah until they disperse.' And to Allah belong the treasuries of the heavens and the earth, but the hypocrites do not understand. They say, 'If we return to the city, the noblest will surely drive out the weakest from it.' And to Allah belongs the might, and to His Messenger, and to the believers, but the hypocrites do not know…"

The Shaykh : Fourthly, they have arrogance; they have contempt.
when it is said to them, "Come, the Messenger of Allah will ask forgiveness for you," إذا قيل لهم تعالوا يستغفر لكم رسول الله
[Al-Munafiqun 63:5]
They say in their hearts, "Who is the Messenger of Allah? Who is this who seeks forgiveness for us?" And they turn their heads. It is said "luwwu" (they turned) and not "lawu" (they turned) because "luwwu" is more eloquent than "lawu" because it is an intensified form.
they turn their heads aside and you see them evading
[Al-Munafiqun 63:5]
with their faces.
And they are arrogant
Because they look down upon the believers; they do not consider the believers to be anything, so they turn their heads and turn away, and they are arrogant. And despite that, Allah the Exalted deprived them of forgiveness and said to His Messenger:
It is all the same for them whether you ask forgiveness for them or do not ask forgiveness for them; never will Allah forgive them
[Al-Munafiqun 63:6]
Whatever the case, even if you sought forgiveness for them and persisted in seeking forgiveness, Allah would not forgive them.
Indeed, Allah does not guide the defiantly disobedient people.
[Al-Munafiqun 63:6]

Four, Fifthly:
They say, "If we return to al-Madinah, the more honored [for power] will surely expel therefrom the more humble." And to Allah belongs [all] honor, and to His
[Al-Munafiqun 63:8]
They say:
If we return to al-Madinah, the more honored
[Al-Munafiqun 63:8]
"The noblest." Its form in the Arabic language. Do you not know the Arabic language?
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Are you not an Arab? Yes.
The student: It is a superlative noun.

The Shaykh : It is a superlative name on the pattern of "af'ala." "Al-a'azz" (the noblest) is originally "al-a'azzaz," and "al-adhal" (the weakest) is originally "al-adhalal." So it is a superlative name. And who do they mean by "the noblest" and who do they mean by "the weakest"? They mean by "the noblest" themselves, and by "the weakest" the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and his Companions. But what was the answer from Allah?
And to Allah belongs [all] honor, and to His Messenger, and to the believers, but the hypocrites
[Al-Munafiqun 63:8]
No, no, let us not pass the verse. Let us pass the verse and return to it, if Allah wills, later.
but the hypocrites do not know.
[Al-Munafiqun 63:8]
They said, "The noblest will surely drive out the weakest from it," meaning from the city, the weakest. And the answer was:
And to Allah belongs might ولله العزة
And Allah did not say, "By Allah, the noblest is the Messenger and the noblest is the believers." He did not say it that way because if He had said, "By Allah, the noblest," that would imply that the hypocrites have some might. And that is because the superlative name necessitates that the one preferred and the one he is preferred over share in the quality, with the preference of the one preferred. Are you with us? Good. But Allah said:
And to Allah belongs might ولله العزة
Meaning, there is no might for the hypocrites at all. The might is entirely for Allah, for His Messenger, and for the believers. O Allah, make us noble by our faith.
And to Allah belongs [all] honor, and to His Messenger, and to the believers, but the hypocrites do not know.
[Al-Munafiqun 63:8]
I ask Allah the Exalted, on this occasion, to make Islam and the Muslims noble, and to humble shirk and the polytheists, and to destroy the enemies of the religion. And we ask Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, to unleash upon those communists who have unleashed themselves upon our brothers in Chechnya. O Allah, unleash upon them. O Allah, send down upon them the calamity, and cast between them enmity and hatred, until some of them kill some of them, slaughter some of them, and take some of them as captives. O Allah, destroy their markets and their offices with their blood, with their own hands, O Lord of the worlds. Indeed, You are over all things competent. And we ask Allah the Exalted to write the same for the aggressive, unjust, treacherous Serbs who break the covenant after the pledge. O Allah, send down upon them Your wrath which is not averted from the criminal people. O the Most Merciful of the merciful.
Sixthly: The hypocrites say:
Do not spend on those who are with the Messenger of Allah until they disband
[Al-Munafiqun 63:7]
He tells you, some of them say to others, "Do not spend on the believers who are with the Messenger." Why? In order for them to disperse from him, from the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and not support him. So even in this verse, "until" is for the cause and not for the goal, contrary to what the brother said, that it is for the goal. One said it is for the goal, so he hastened and stumbled.
Do not spend on those who are with the Messenger of Allah until they disband
[Al-Munafiqun 63:7]
Here, "until" is for the cause and not for the goal, because if it were for the goal, the thing intended would be established after the existence of the goal, and the meaning would be, "Do not spend until they disperse; if they disperse, then spend." And that is not the case. The meaning is not that meaning. "Do not spend on those with the Messenger of Allah until they disperse" means "in order for them to disperse." And we want the brother to bring us an example where "until" is for the goal. Rely on Allah. Yes, stand up.
The student: The saying of Allah the Exalted:
Peace it is until the break of dawn
.

The Shaykh : We want it to enter upon the verb. May Allah reward you with good. Otherwise, you were correct.
Peace it is until the break of dawn
This one enters upon a name, and we want "until" to enter upon a verb for the goal, in order to match the verse that is with us.
until they disperse حتى ينفضوا
And they said, We will not leave him
.
The student:
They said, "We will never cease being devoted to the calf until وقالوا لن نبرح عليه عاكفين حتى
[Taha 20:91]
...

The Shaykh : Yes.
until Moses returns to us." حتى يرجع إلينا موسى
[Taha 20:91]
Meaning, until he returns. May Allah bless you. Good. These people say:
Do not spend on those who are with the Messenger of Allah until they disband
[Al-Munafiqun 63:7]
. But do you think that the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them), if spending on them is stopped, will disperse from the Messenger of Allah? No, by Allah. And for this reason,
When the envoy of Quraysh at the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah said to the Messenger, may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him, “You have only a rabble who may leave and abandon you,” Abu Bakr said to him: “Suck the vulva of al-Lat” لما قال مندوب قريش في صلح الحديبية لما قال للرسول عليه الصلاة والسلام ما عندك إلا أوباش يمكن أن يذهبوا ويتركونك قال له أبو بكر : امصص بظر اللات
Suck the vulva of al-Lat
This is a great fault for Quraysh, because Quraysh worshipped al-Lat and al-Uzza, which is a name for a known thing to many of you; there is no need to mention it. Its meaning is known. The important thing is that he said, "Shall we disperse from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and leave him?" The Companions can never leave the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), ever. But the hypocrites think so. Allah the Exalted says in response to these people:
And to Allah belongs the depositories of the heavens and the earth
[Al-Munafiqun 63:7]
Who is it in whose hand is provision? Are they the hypocrites? No, by Allah. In whose hand is provision? In the hand of the one who has the treasuries of the heavens and the earth.
And to Allah belongs the depositories of the heavens and the earth, but the hypocrites do not understand.
[Al-Munafiqun 63:7]
