Clarification that the punishment of the grave is among the unseen matters that are not perceived in this world, but something of it may be manifested for a religious benefit, such as the hadith of Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him)

The Shaykh : As for the Sunnah, it is clear and well-known in affirming the punishment of the grave
As for scholarly consensus, I ask you: do the Muslims say in their prayers "I seek refuge in Allah from the punishment of the Hellfire, from the punishment of the grave, from the trial of life and death, and from the trial of the Dajjal" or do they not say it? Yes, all Muslims, yes, all Muslims say this: "I seek refuge in Allah from the punishment of the Hellfire, from the punishment of the grave, from the trial of life and death, and from the trial of the Dajjal." And there is no seeking refuge from anything unless it has a real existence. So the punishment of the grave is established. Is it possible for the punishment of the grave to be manifested to people? The answer is no, except that Allah may manifest it. Otherwise, the principle is that it is not manifested, and its non-manifestation is from the mercy of Allah for the deceased and the mercy of Allah for the deceased's relatives and companions. As for the deceased, he has been buried now and covered, and we do not know about his sins, but if we heard him being punished, we would certainly think ill of him. As for the deceased's people, it is apparent that if they were to hear the voice of their father or mother being punished in the grave, the world would become narrow for them. But Allah (Mighty and Majestic) keeps it hidden, except that it may be manifested for a religious benefit. This is in what is established in the two Sahihs from 'Abdullah ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) who said:
the Prophet came upon two graves and said, "Their occupants are being punished مر النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم بقبرين فقال إنهما ليعذبان إنهما ليعذبان
Mishkat al-Masabih 338
In the context of emphasis, indeed there are two emphases in it: "Indeed they are being punished." There are two emphases.
The student: ...

The Shaykh : And the other is an emphasis.
The student: The lam.

The Shaykh : The lam is the lam of emphasis, and the second is here: "Inna" is an emphasis, the first is "Inna" and the second is the lam.
Indeed they are being punished. إنهما ليعذبان
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) emphasized the report, even though he is the truthful one who is verified without emphasis, because of the importance of the subject. He said:
They are being punished but they are not being punished for anything major. إنهما ليعذبان وما يعذبان في كبير
Sunan Ibn Majah 349Sahih (Darussalam)
Meaning, in a major of the major sins, or in a matter that is difficult for them. The second is what is intended, meaning they are not being punished for a matter that is difficult for them to leave; leaving it is easy.
