Questions: A man prayed the tarawih prayer and made a mistake, standing up for the third rak'ah. He was alerted but did not return. When he finished, they informed him, so he stood up and made the rak'ah even, then prostrated two prostrations after the taslim.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : This man says he was praying the tarawih prayer and made a mistake, standing up for the third rak'ah. They alerted him, but he continued. When he finished the taslim, he prostrated the prostrations of forgetfulness?
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : Yes, good, and then?
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : Yes, good. He says that when he finished the taslim from the third rak'ah, they told him that he had performed three rak'ahs. So he stood up and performed one to make it even, then finished the taslim and prostrated for forgetfulness. This action is valid, but better than that is that if he stands up for the third rak'ah in the tarawih prayer and is alerted, he should return, complete the prayer, finish the taslim, and then prostrate for forgetfulness after the taslim, because it is due to an addition. As for the one who recited in the Fajr prayer on the day of Jumu'ah, reciting "Alif Lam Mim, Tanzil al-Sajdah," but he divided it between the two rak'ahs, he made a mistake in that. So we say: whoever wants to follow the Sunnah should recite Surat al-Sajdah in the first rak'ah and in the second
Has there [not] come upon man a period of time هل أتى على الإنسان حين من الدهر
[Al-Insan 76:1]
. And if he does not intend that, let him recite other surahs, not dividing Surat al-Sajdah into two halves. The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) recited it in its entirety, because by doing so, he would be contradicting the Sunnah. Yes, in any case, we will take five minutes.

The questioner : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions. We ask Allah to grant us beneficial knowledge and righteous deeds, and to reward you with the best reward. Your Eminence, the Shaykh.
