A man goes to propose to a woman and says to her guardian, "So-and-so is seeking the lineage of Allah and your lineage." Is this statement correct?

The questioner : O Shaykh, may Allah forgive you, what is your opinion of the statement made by some people when they want to propose on behalf of one person to another, saying to the woman's guardian: "So-and-so is seeking the lineage of Allah and your lineage"?

The Shaykh : My opinion is that this word, when the suitor says, "So-and-so is seeking the lineage of Allah and your lineage," we say: This is a denunciation-worthy statement, because Allah (Mighty and Majestic) has no lineage. Allah is One, the Unique, the Single, the Eternal. Also, even the phrase "your lineage" is a customary linguistic usage, because lineage in the Arabic language refers to kinship. Allah the Exalted said:
And it is He who has created from water a human being and made him [a relative by] lineage and marriage وَهُوَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ مِنَ الْمَاءِ بَشَراً فَجَعَلَهُ نَسَباً وَصِهْراً
[Al-Furqan 25:54]
So, lineage refers to kinship, and in-laws are the relatives of the wife.
