What is the ruling on someone who calls another person on the phone, and when the receiver picks up, they hear a verse from the Qur'an?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : A man’s Shaykh called and said: “I want so-and-so.” He placed a recorder near the phone receiver to recite the Qur'an, then called out for so-and-so. Is there any disrespect in reciting the Qur'an in this way, or not?

The Shaykh : Some of the brothers use this when you call them, and you say, “I want so-and-so,” and they play a verse from the Qur'an for you, even in some official departments. But I think it would be better to put something else in its place, such as some wisdom and proverbs, or a ruling from the Islamic legal rulings. For example, a man entered while the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was in the mosque, and he prayed without settling in the bowing and prostrations, then came and greeted him. The Prophet said:
go back and pray for indeed you have not prayed. ارجع فصل فإنك لم تصل
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2692Sahih (Darussalam)
And similarly, his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
No doubt, I intended to order somebody to pronounce the Iqama of the (compulsory congregational) prayer لقد هممت أن آمر بالصلاة فتقام
Sahih al-Bukhari 2420
which encourages congregational prayer. This is better, because first, the person you called might dislike this and not be at peace with it. I, and may Allah reward you, love the Qur'an, but some people may not like it; they may find it burdensome, even if they do not hate it with a hatred of the heart, but they find it heavy. Or they might say, “This man is forcing us to listen and then hang up, or stay reluctantly.” And may Allah reward you, if you put rulings or wisdom, such as the beginning of a piece of wisdom like “fear of Allah” or something similar.

The questioner : Some of them put songs.

The Shaykh : Yes, that is correct. Some of them put music in the same switchboard, but if they wanted, they could change it.
