Explanation of the Book of Ablution, Ghusl, Menstruation, and Tayammum-07a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Khazim narrated to us, saying: Al-A'mash narrated to us from Mujahid from Tawus from Ibn Abbas, who said:
The Prophet (ﷺ) once passed by two graves and said, "These two persons are being tortured not for a major sin (to avoid). One of them never saved himself from being soiled with his urine, while the other used to go about with calumnies (to make enmity between friends)." The Prophet (ﷺ) then took a green leaf of a date-palm tree, split it into (pieces) and fixed one on each grave. They said, "O Allah's Apostle! Why have you done so?" He replied, "I hope that their punishment might be lessened till these (the pieces of the leaf) become dry."
Sahih al-Bukhari 218
.
And Ibn al-Muthanna said: Waki' narrated to us, saying: Al-A'mash narrated to us, saying: I heard Mujahid say the same thing:
He did not protect himself from his urine. يستتر من بوله
.

The Shaykh : The point of this is his saying:
From his urine. من بوله
.
And al-Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) indicated by his saying: "and he did not mention anything other than the urine of people", that he was refuting the statement of those who say that all urine is ritually impure, and that is not the case.
The urine of animals whose meat is eaten is pure. For this reason, when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered the 'Uraynites to join the camels of zakah and drink from their urine and milk, he did not order them to wash the vessels from the urine.
So the correct view, in which there is no doubt, is that the urine from which one must purify oneself is the urine of a human being or the urine of an animal whose meat is not eaten. As for an animal whose meat is eaten, its urine is pure.
