The questioner : What is the response to the one who asks: Was the greeting of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) to the prophets on the night of the Mi'raj, and their response to him, by the soul, by the body, or by both together?

The Shaykh : The question should not be phrased in this manner; rather, it should be asked: Was the ascension of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) and his journey to the Sacred Mosque by his soul, or by his soul and his body? The answer is that he was taken by his soul and his body, awake and not in a dream, by his soul and his body. This is because Allah the Exalted said:
Exalted is He who took His Servant by night سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي أَسْرَى بِعَبْدِهِ لَيْلًا
[Al-Isra 17:1]
and He did not say: "by the soul of His servant." And Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, said in Surat al-Najm:
(1) By the star when it descends, (2) Your companion [Muhammad] has not strayed, nor has he erred, (3) Nor does he speak from [his own] inclination. (4) It is not but a revelation revealed, (5) Taught to him by one intense in strength - (6) One of soundness. And he rose to [his] true form (7) While he was in the higher [part of the] horizon. (8) Then he approached and descended (9) And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer. (10) And he revealed to His Servant what he revealed.
[An-Najm 53:1-10]
up to the end of the verses, all of which indicate that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) was ascended with his body while awake, not while sleeping.
And what indicates this from reality is that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) informed the Quraysh of what he saw on that night, they raised a clamor against him, denied him, and rejected it to the utmost degree of denial. Had it been by his soul or a vision he saw, they would not have denied this, because the Arabs do not deny visions. A person sees in his dream that he traveled to the farthest place and that he did this and that and that, even though if he had been awake, none of that would have happened to him.
So the conclusion is that the stronger position, indeed the necessary position, is that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) was taken by his soul and his body, awake and not sleeping. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you. A message arrived from the questioner, 'Aydah 'Umar, who says.
