The questioner : His second question says: I ask about the Night Journey and the Ascension of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). Did he ascend to the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary with his soul and his body, or with his soul only? Please give us a ruling, may Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : The Ascension that occurred to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) was with his body and his soul. Allah the Exalted said:
Exalted is He who took His Servant by night from al-Masjid al-Haram to al-Masjid al-Aqsa
[Al-Isra 17:1]
And He the Exalted said:
(1) By the star when it descends, (2) Your companion [Muhammad] has not strayed, nor has he erred, (3) Nor does he speak from [his own] inclination. (4) It is not but a revelation revealed, (5) Taught to him by one intense in strength - (6) One of soundness. And he rose to [his] true form (7) While he was in the higher [part of the] horizon. (8) Then he approached and descended (9) And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer. (10) And he revealed to His Servant what he revealed.
[An-Najm 53:1-10]
And the servant, as well as the companion, cannot be [described] except in terms of the soul and the body. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was taken on the Night Journey with his body and his soul, and he was ascended to the heavens until he reached a level where he heard the scraping of the pens, with his body and his soul (peace and blessings be upon him). If it had been with his soul only, the Quraysh would not have denied it, for many things of this kind occur in dreams. But he (peace and blessings be upon him) was taken on the Night Journey with his body and his soul, and he was ascended to the heavens in the same manner. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
