What is their sin, by Allah, except that they *** took hold of the revelation of Allah and the Criterion (Explanation of the linguistic meaning in the phrase "What is their sin")

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :"What is their sin, by Allah, except that they *** took hold of the revelation of Allah and the Criterion"
What is their sin except that they took hold of the revelation of Allah and the Qur'an? Is this a criticism or a praise? It is a praise. This type of expression is called by the experts of rhetoric "affirming praise with what resembles criticism," such as the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And they resented them not except because they believed in Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy, وما نقموا منهم إلا أن يؤمنوا بالله العزيز الحميد
[Al-Buruj 85:8]
, and the saying of the poet:
"And there is no flaw in them except that their swords *** leave remnants from the clash of the armies"
"And there is no flaw in them except that their swords *** leave remnants from" What?
"from the clash of the armies" Is this praise or criticism? It is praise for bravery and boldness.
Here he says, may Allah have mercy on him:
"What is their sin, by Allah, except that they *** took hold of the revelation of Allah and the Criterion"
This is like the action of those who came before them
And they resented them not except because they believed in Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy, وما نقموا منهم إلا أن يؤمنوا بالله العزيز الحميد
[Al-Buruj 85:8]
