Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : She says: I have missed fasts to make up, and years have passed. I request to know how to make them up and whether I have to pay compensation for those days. I ask for your guidance, may you be rewarded.

The Shaykh : The making up is for this questioner to fast.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : For the number of days she owes, based on the saying of Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He:
So whoever sights [the new moon of] the month, let him fast it; and whoever is ill or on a journey - then an equal number of other days
[Al-Baqarah 2:185]
.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : She must repent to Allah, seek His forgiveness, and feel remorse for having delayed making up the fasts until after the following Ramadan. It is not permissible for one who owes fasts from Ramadan to delay them until after the second Ramadan; rather, it is obligatory to make them up before the second month of Ramadan passes. This woman, as she mentioned, has had years pass over her. Therefore, she must repent to Allah, seek forgiveness for this sin, and make up the number of days she owes. According to the stronger opinion in this matter, she does not have to feed people after that. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah bless you. This questioner, O honorable Shaykh.
