Some scholars say that the presence of clocks serves as a substitute for the first adhan on Friday, so there is no need for it.

The questioner : Some scholars say that the presence of microphones and clocks now

The Shaykh : Yes

The questioner : indicates that there is no need for the first adhan, as they know the time

The Shaykh : Yes

The questioner : The operative cause or the ruling follows the operative cause in its existence and absence

The Shaykh : Yes, this response to that is easy. The microphones only have one adhan, and the first adhan is for the distant people to prepare. What is the benefit if we hear the adhan from the loudspeaker and there are, say, two or three kilometers between us and it? But the first adhan is given early so that people can prepare and come. As for clocks, not everyone has a clock, and even the one who has a clock may be negligent. The clock is now in our pockets or in our hands, and yet we are negligent. Yes, that is correct, it is obstructed.
