Explanation of the Book of the Adhan-02b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Ahmad ibn Yunus narrated to us, saying: Zuhayr narrated to us, saying: Sulayman al-Taymi narrated to us from Abu Usman al-Nahdi from Abdullah ibn Mas'ud from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said:
The Adhan pronounced by Bilal should not stop you from taking Suhur, for he pronounces the Adhan at night, so that the one offering the late night prayer (Tahajjud) from among you might hurry up and the sleeping from among you might wake up. It does not mean that dawn or morning has started. لا يمنعن أحدكم أو أحدًا منكم أذان بلال من سحوره فإنه يؤذن أو ينادي بليل ليرجع قائمكم ولينبه نائمكم وليس أن يقول الفجر أو الصبح
Sahih al-Bukhari 621
And he gestured with his fingers, raising them upward and lowering them downward, saying, "Like this." And Zuhayr said, "With his two index fingers, one above the other, then he extended them to his right and left."

The Shaykh : This describes how Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) indicated the dawn in Ramadan. He used to give the adhan early, before the dawn. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) explained the reason for this: it is to wake the sleeping and make the standing return to eat the pre-dawn meal. It is not the adhan for the true dawn, which stretches across the horizon. The dawn is of two kinds: the true dawn and the false dawn. The difference between them is in three aspects. The first is that the true dawn spreads horizontally, meaning like a bird opening its wings, extending from the north to the south. The false dawn is vertical, appearing as a column in the sky. It has been described in some hadiths as the tail of the well, meaning the tail of the well. The second aspect is that darkness follows the false dawn, whereas no darkness follows the true dawn; rather, the light spreads until the sun rises. The third aspect is that there is darkness between the false dawn and the horizon, whereas there is no darkness between the true dawn and the horizon; rather, it is connected to the horizon. These are three aspects that clarify the difference between the true dawn and the false dawn. And his saying (peace and blessings be upon him), "It is not the adhan for the dawn or the morning," continues until he describes its manner. Yes.
