Explanation of the Book of the Adhan-05a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Reciter: Ibrahim ibn Musa narrated to us, saying: Hisham ibn Yusuf informed us, from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, who said: 'Ubaid Allah ibn 'Abd Allah informed me, saying: Aisha said, "When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) became severely ill and his pain intensified, he asked his wives for permission to be nursed in my house. They granted him permission, so he went out between two men, his feet dragging on the ground. He was between al-'Abbas and another man." 'Ubaid Allah said, "I mentioned this to Ibn al-'Abbas—what Aisha had said—and he said to me, 'Do you know who the man was whom Aisha did not name?' I said, 'No.' He said, 'It was 'Ali ibn Abi Talib.'"

The Shaykh : The chapter on the limit of a sick person’s excuse to miss the congregation, meaning what is the illness that, when present, drops the obligation of the congregation from a person. Then he mentioned the hadith of Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said, "When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) fell ill with the illness in which he died, the time for prayer arrived and the adhan was called. He said:
Tell Abu Bakr to lead the people in the prayer.
Sahih al-Bukhari 682
They told him, "Abu Bakr is a man of deep emotion, meaning he is sad and grieves, and perhaps if he stands in your place, he will not be able to pray due to weeping. If he stands in your place, he will not be able to lead the people in prayer." And he repeated, meaning he said,
Tell Abu Bakr to lead the people in the prayer
Sahih al-Bukhari 713
They repeated it for him, and he repeated it a third time, then he said:
You are the companions of Yusuf
Who are the "companions of Yusuf"? He means the women who cut their hands. But this is problematic because did the women commit any scheming, or did they? Did they? How did it happen? They were told that the wife of the Aziz was luring her young man to himself, that she was overcome with love for him, and that we certainly see her in manifest error. They wanted to do this to get a look at this man.
So when she heard of their scheming, she sent for them and prepared for them a banquet and gave each one of them a knife and said [to Joseph], "Come out before them."
[Yusuf 12:31]
He came out,
And when they saw him, they greatly admired him and cut their hands
[Yusuf 12:31]
and they began cutting their hands in a state of daze and heedlessness. These are the companions of Yusuf. It seems the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) understood from their lack of haste in telling Abu Bakr that this was a form of scheming, because it is known that the position of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) among the people is far above the position of Abu Bakr. So if someone of lower status came after him, something would arise in the hearts of the people. They wanted 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) to be the one to lead the people in prayer. This is what appears to me from this scheming to which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) alluded. Now let us return to the author of al-Fath.
