Explanation of the Book of Friday Prayer and the Two Festivals-03a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reader: Adam narrated to us, Ibn Abi Dhi'b narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, from al-Sa'ib ibn Yazid, who said:
In the lifetime of the Prophet, Abu Bakr and `Umar, the Adhan for the Jumua prayer used to be pronounced when the Imam sat on the pulpit. But during the Caliphate of `Uthman when the Muslims increased in number, a third Adhan at Az-Zaura' was added.
Sahih al-Bukhari 912

The Shaykh : In my copy, Abu 'Abdullah said: "Al-Zurua is a place in the market in al-Madinah". Do you have this?
The reader: No.

The Shaykh : Fine, it is a copy; it is not in the original.
The reader: I have: "at al-Zurua," and in a copy after that: "Abu 'Abdullah said."

The Shaykh : And it is so, Abu 'Abdullah said: "Al-Zurua is a place in the market in al-Madinah".
In this hadith, the adhan that Allah mentioned in His saying:
O you who have believed, when [the adhan] is called for the prayer on the day of Jumu'ah [Friday], then proceed to the remembrance of Allah يا أيها الذين آمنوا إذا نودي للصلاة من يوم الجمعة فاسعوا إلى ذكر الله
[Al-Jumu'ah 62:9]
is the adhan that takes place when the imam sits on the pulpit when he enters.
As for the second adhan before it, it is what 'Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) added when the people increased and al-Madinah expanded, and the people needed a third adhan to be called for them so that they would attend.
