The questioner : Regarding the word of Abu Nu’aym, his statement is that his hadiths are generally of a type that contains omissions and inverted chains of narration. He also said once, “There is no harm in it, except that he is hasty.” In *al-Qamus*, *al-ahuj* is defined as one who is hasty in judgments. The Shaykh al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar mentioned in *al-Taqrib*, which summarizes the opinions of the masters of hadith on Asbat ibn Nasr, saying: “Trustworthy, but makes many errors, and his narrations are unusual.” And the Shaykh Al-Albani said in *al-Sahihah*: “Asbat ibn Nasr makes many errors, as al-Hafiz said, so he is not to be relied upon when he narrates a hadith alone, and how much less when he contradicts others.” Likewise, al-Hafiz transmitted this statement of his in *al-Tahdhib*. And when I returned to *al-Tughliq*, he did not mention the reason for the anomaly in the hadith... in the context of al-Bayhaqi and Imam Ahmad, that they only connected the hadith.

The Shaykh : May Allah reward you. And I advise you that if you intend to correct your colleague, contact him before doing so and verify the correction so that the issue is agreed upon. Even if the benefit is required, the benefit does not disappear if you meet with him and add to it what you mentioned just now. For this reason, I hope that this becomes one of the etiquettes of the student of knowledge: when he sees a shortcoming in his brother, he meets with him. You might say, “I did not know that he omitted this benefit.” We say, then, do not present it now; you may present it to him later, and he will correct it himself. So seek forgiveness from Allah and ask your brother for pardon. Did he forgive you? Good. In any case, it appears to me that Asbat mixed up this hadith, especially since the hadith scholars describe him with these bad attributes. May Allah pardon him.
