The ruling on an oath conditioned on the will of Allah and the benefit of the exception in it.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : A man said, "By Allah, I will certainly give charity today of ten dirhams," and the sun set and he had not given charity. What is upon him? Is an expiation upon him or not? Answer, O brothers? He said: "By Allah, I will certainly give charity today of ten dirhams," and the sun set and he had not given charity. Is an expiation upon him, or is there nothing upon him?
The student: He owes an expiation.

The Shaykh : An expiation is upon him, it is clear. And another said: "By Allah, I will certainly give charity today of ten dirhams, if Allah wills," and the sun set. Is there anything upon him? What is the difference? Because this one coupled it with the will of Allah, he conditioned it on the will of Allah. If Allah had willed for him to give charity, he would have given it. He refrained from giving charity because Allah did not will it.
Therefore, I advise you, may Allah bless you, to accustom your tongues so that whenever you swear to something, you complete it? You say "if Allah wills." If you say this, you benefit from two benefits:
The first benefit: that this is among the causes of facilitating matters for you.
And the second benefit: that if the matter is not fulfilled, there is no expiation upon you.
I advise you with this. How many are those who swear, those who swear and then break their oaths, and expiations become obligatory upon them. But if he says "if Allah wills" and the brother breaks his oath, get up, O my brother, what did you say?
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : No, your adhan is on your head, but it appears that you are lying down, your heart is lying down. Did you not hear, O people?
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : No, you, you pay attention. May Allah reward you with good. Is it correct? Sit down. Who will answer? Please.
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : Okay, rest. I say, accustom your tongues, when you swear, say "if Allah wills." You benefit from two great benefits: The first: what is it? Facilitating matters. And the second: that if you break your oath, there is no expiation upon you. And this is a great benefit. Okay.
