Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: “... Serving them are eternal youths with cups, pitchers, and a cup from a pure source, from which they will not feel a headache or from which they will not be intoxicated ...”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :
Serving them are يطوف عليهم
That is, they move about among them.
There will circulate among them young boys made eternal يطوف عليهم ولدان مخلدون
[Al-Waqi'ah 56:17]
That is, young boys, eternal and favored forever, constantly, with what?
With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - بأكواب وأباريق وكأس من معين
[Al-Waqi'ah 56:18]
The cup, as we say, is the goblet, and the pitchers are known; they are vessels with handles and spouts.
(18) With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - (19) No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - وكأس من معين لا يصدعون عنها
[Al-Waqi'ah 56:18-19]
A cup from a pure source means from clear wine that has no dregs. They do not feel a headache from it. What does “feel a headache” mean, my brother? You stand up, yes.
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : You are putting your hand on your head. Does your head hurt? I am asking you. I am not saying “headache” or “your head hurts” right now. Why are you putting your hand on it? Rest, yes. Say it.
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : A headache, now. Okay, rest.
No headache will they have therefrom لا يصدعون عنها
[Al-Waqi'ah 56:19]
That is, they will not be afflicted with headaches or dizziness like the wine of this world.
nor will they be intoxicated ولا ينزفون
That is, their minds will not be lost. The wine of this world causes the mind to be lost, and therefore it was forbidden with a confirmed prohibition and punished for. So drinking wine is forbidden by the consensus of the Muslims, by the Book and the Sunnah. And whoever says it is lawful, while he has lived among the Muslims, has apostatized from the religion of Islam. Why? Because he denied something known necessarily from the religion. And whoever drinks it while believing it is forbidden is punished with what? With eighty lashes, or whatever the imam sees as a deterrent for him and his like. If we punish him the first time and he returns the second time, we repeat the punishment. The third time, we repeat the punishment. The fourth time, kill. We kill him. This is how the hadith came from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). And if we see that people are immersed in it and nothing stops them from it except killing on the fourth time, we kill, because this is reform. Reform for whom? For whom? For the Muslim society, so that wine does not spread in it. And there is also mercy for the drinker. There is mercy for him. Brother, how is that?
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : What is this? This is it. Where did you go? We do not repeat the question. I intentionally asked you because it appears you were distracted. Say yes, until you settle down and sit, or do you want to stand? Say, my brother, are you distracted or present?
The student: Distracted.

The Shaykh : Distracted. May Allah return you. Sit down. Okay, everyone, listen. I say that killing the wine drinker on the fourth time, after we have punished him three times, is mercy for him. How is that? Because we prevented him from repeating this great sin. And if he does not die today, he will die tomorrow. So in that is reform for the society, and in that is also what? Mercy for this one. Listen to the saying of Allah the Mighty and Majestic:
And let not those who disbelieve ever think that [because] We extend their time [of enjoyment] it is better for them. We only extend it for them so that they may increase in sin ولا يحسبن الذين كفروا أنما نملي لهم خير لأنفسهم إنما نملي لهم ليزدادوا إثما
[Ali 'Imran 3:178]
If we had left him, he would have increased in evil. He would have come to us every day drinking. So his killing on the fourth time was reform for the society from one aspect, and also protection for this drinker and mercy for him from increasing in sin. And if he does not die today, he will die tomorrow. Clear, everyone? Okay.
