Explaining that what occurred in the Gulf Fitnah and the sectarian war is by the divine decree and destiny of Allah

The Shaykh : So we begin first with the first point, which is that what occurred is by the divine decree and destiny of Allah. There is no doubt in this, for Allah the Exalted says: [Al-Hadid 57:22]. [Al-Hadid 57:22].
Before We created it, meaning: before We created this calamity, or before We created the earth, or before We created the soul. All three meanings are possible for the verse, and there is no difference between them.
The rule in tafsir (exegesis) and also the rule in explaining hadith is: "If a text is capable of several meanings that do not contradict one another, it is to be understood as encompassing all of them. If they do contradict one another, we look at which is stronger and take what is stronger." So what occurred is by the divine decree and destiny of Allah.
It is established from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: Fifty thousand years ago, Allah wrote the decrees of every thing. So when we believe in that, and we are, if Allah wills, believers in it, then we know that the matter will not change from what has occurred; it is a destined, decreed matter that must happen. Our stance toward this thing is that we be patient, seek reward, wait for relief, and be pleased with Allah as our Lord (Glorified and Exalted is He), and we know that this is for profound wisdom, which may contain good for Islam and the Muslims. We do not know; we are a nation, but rather we are human beings, and human beings do not know the unseen. [An-Naml 27:65] This is a point. In summary, my brother. Our brother, yes. What is this point?

The Shaykh : That what happened is by the divine decree and destiny of Allah, and where is the evidence? If you stand up.
The student: ... .
The Shaykh : You have done well, perfect. This implies that if we know it is by the divine decree and destiny of Allah, then our position is to be patient, to count on the reward, and to be pleased with the decree, for Allah the Exalted is the One who decreed it.
No disaster strikes upon the earth or among yourselves except that it is in a register before We bring it into being - indeed that, for Allah, is easy -
ما أصاب من مصيبة في الأرض ولا في أنفسكم إلا في كتاب من قبل أن نبرأها إن ذلك على الله يسيرNo disaster strikes upon the earth or among yourselves except that it is in a register before We bring it into being - indeed that, for Allah, is easy -

إن الله كتب مقادير كل شيء قبل أن يخلق السماوات والأرض بخمسين ألف سنةWhen He created the pen, (Glorified and Exalted is He), He said to it: "Write." It said: "My Lord, what should I write?" He said: "Write what is to be." So it wrote in that hour what is to be until the Day of Resurrection
