Explaining the matters that follow when a Muslim knows that the calamity is by the decree of Allah the Exalted.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : If we know that this calamity is by the decree of Allah the Exalted, what follows from this knowledge?
Two things follow from this knowledge. The first is that we are content with this calamity, because it is by the decree of Allah, and whatever Allah has decreed, it is obligatory for the believer to be content with it. We all say, "We are content with Allah as our Lord," but contentment with Allah as Lord is not complete unless one is content with His decree and destiny. So at that point, we are content with this calamity, we submit, and we are at peace, because it is from the decree and destiny of Allah the Exalted. 'Uqaymah, who is one of the great ones of 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), said regarding the saying of Allah the Exalted:
No disaster strikes except by permission of Allah. And whoever believes in Allah - He will guide his heart
[At-Taghabun 64:11]
He said: "It is the man who is struck by a calamity, and he knows that it is from Allah, so he is content and submits." The second thing that follows from this is that we know that Allah the Exalted did not decree this calamity except for a wisdom, because there is nothing that Allah has decreed except that it has a profound wisdom, which we may know or we may not know. But we have known something of the wisdom in what Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, has decreed of this calamity and disaster, which becomes clear later. The evidence that everything Allah has decreed is for a wisdom is His saying, Blessed and Exalted is He:
And you do not will except that Allah wills. Indeed, Allah is ever Knowing and Wise.
[Al-Insan 76:30]
So when He said:
Indeed, Allah is ever Knowing and Wise.
[An-Nisa 4:11]
we knew that He does not will anything except for a wisdom, because among His names, Glorified and Exalted is He, is al-Hakim (the Wise), and this great name necessitates that everything that comes from Allah, whether it is cosmic matters or legislative matters, is for a wisdom. So this great calamity that affected the Middle East and beyond the Middle East arose from the decree and destiny of Allah. So what is the evidence that it arose from the decree and destiny of Allah? You, standing, may Allah reward you.
The student: ...

The Shaykh : You have done well.
No disaster strikes upon the earth or among yourselves except that it is in a register before We bring it into being - indeed that, for Allah, is easy - ما أصاب من مصيبة في الأرض ولا في أنفسكم إلا في كتاب من قبل أن نبرأها إن ذلك على الله يسير
[Al-Hadid 57:22]
If we know that this calamity is by the decree and destiny of Allah, we mentioned that the first thing that follows from it is what? Contentment with the decree of Allah, because the completion of contentment with Allah as Lord is that you are content with His decree. Otherwise, what is the meaning of being content with Him as Lord if you are displeased with what He has decreed for you? And the second thing is that it is for a wisdom, whether we know this wisdom or we do not know it, because sometimes the decreed matter is not known to us in its wisdom, but we know that it is for a wisdom. The evidence that what Allah has decreed is with wisdom...
The student: His saying, the Exalted:
And you do not will except that Allah wills. Indeed, Allah is ever Knowing and Wise.
[Al-Insan 76:30]

The Shaykh : "Indeed, Allah was All-Knowing, Wise."
And you do not will except that Allah wills. Indeed, Allah is ever Knowing and Wise.
[Al-Insan 76:30]
So His saying
Indeed, Allah is ever Knowing and Wise.
[An-Nisa 4:11]
indicates that what He willed is for a wisdom.
