The Shaykh : I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan. Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, said: [Al-Baqarah 2:28] The interrogative here is for denial and wonder, or if you wish, for denial and amazement, meaning to amaze others in this state. Disbelief in Allah is denial and lying, derived from the word for covering a thing when it is hidden. From this comes the word for the sheath of the date flower that is on the palm tree. [Al-Baqarah 2:28] Meaning, you deny and lie about Him and are arrogant about worshipping Him, even though you know your origin. That is before the soul is breathed into the human being; he is a dead, inanimate body, so He gave you life by breathing the soul into you. The second time, that is after the soul has been breathed into him, he dies, either in his mother’s womb and is born dead, or after he comes out into the world. The hereafter, after which there is no death. [Al-Baqarah 2:28] After the second giving of life, you return to Allah, who will inform you of your deeds and reward you for them.
