Benefits of the Verse: “How can you disbelieve in Allah when you were dead and He gave you life, then He will cause you to die, then He will give you life again, and then to Him you will return”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
In this noble verse, there is a rebuke of those who disbelieve in Allah (Mighty and Majestic), even though they know their condition and their ultimate end.
Among the benefits of this verse is that the term “death” is applied to that which has no spirit, even if the spirit has not previously entered it. This means that prior life is not a condition for being described as dead, as evidenced by His saying:
you were lifeless and He brought you to lifeكنتم أمواتا فأحياكم
[Al-Baqarah 2:28]
. As for the belief of some people that one is not called “dead” unless he had life before, this is not correct. Rather, Allah the Exalted applied the description of death to inanimate objects, so He said regarding the idols:
They are, [in fact], dead, not alive, and they do not perceive when they will be resurrected.أموات غير أحياء
[An-Nahl 16:21]
