Appendix: Benefits of the verse: “And believe in what has been revealed to you as confirmation of what is with you, and do not be the first to disbelieve in it, and do not exchange My verses for a small price, and fear only Me.”

And among the benefits of the following verse
And do not mix the truth with falsehood
[Al-Baqarah 2:42]
is the obligation to clarify the truth and distinguish it from falsehood. One should say: “This is truth and this is falsehood,” and not confuse people, based on His saying:
And do not mix the truth with falsehood
[Al-Baqarah 2:42]
And whoever mixes truth with falsehood, those are the people who raise doubts, either about the Qur'an or about the rulings of the Qur'an, and then do not resolve them. If they were to raise the doubt and then resolve it, that would be less severe. However, raising a doubt, even if it is resolved, is not in the public interest if it is not widespread among the people. Pay attention to this point: raising a doubt, even if you resolve it, is an error if it is not widespread among the people. This is because if you open up the doubt, you do not have certainty that you will remove it with the resolutions you mention. Sometimes the doubt returns to the heart, and resolutions are presented for it, but the person does not find peace in these resolutions, so the doubt remains. Even if the person were to be saved from it, it would be better.
Among the benefits of the noble verse is that there is nothing but truth and falsehood, truth and falsehood. If you reflect on the Qur'an and the Sunnah, you will find that this is the case. Allah said:
That is because Allah is the Truth, and that which they call upon other than Him is falsehood
[Al-Hajj 22:62]
Allah the Exalted said:
And indeed, we or you are either upon guidance or in clear error." وإنا أو إياكم لعلى هدى أو في ضلل مبين
[Saba 34:24]
And He the Exalted said:
And what can be beyond truth except error?
[Yunus 10:32]
And He the Exalted said:
so whoever wills - let him believe; and whoever wills - let him disbelieve
[Al-Kahf 18:29]
And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
the Qur'an is proof, either for you or against youالقرآن حجة لك أو عليك
Sunan an-Nasa'i 2437Sahih (Darussalam)
There is nothing that is neither truth nor falsehood; it is either truth or falsehood.
If someone were to say: “Is there not a rank between the obligatory and the forbidden, and between the disliked and the recommended, which is the permissible?” We say: Yes, there is no doubt about this. But the permissible itself must be a means to something. If it is not a means to anything, it falls into the category of falsehood, as came in the hadith:
All play in which a son of Adam engages is falsehood, except his play with his sword, his spear, his wife, and his horse.
These three things were only excepted because they are a public benefit; they all return to a public benefit.
