The questioner : My father, O honorable Shaykh, curses us and my mother frequently when he gets angry, to the extent that he curses all his possessions if they...

The Shaykh : Like what?

The questioner : To the extent that he curses all his possessions if they fall from his hand, and even curses if he cannot speak clearly. When we advise him, he gets angry and curses us, saying: "You advise me, and I am your father, and I know more than you." We ask the honorable Shaykh, may Allah reward him with good, to advise and guide our father.

The Shaykh : The believer is not one who insults or curses, and those who curse will not be intercessors or witnesses on the Day of Resurrection. My advice to this father is to fear Allah the Mighty and Majestic, and to seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan when he feels anger until it subsides. Let him know that if he curses one who is not deserving of the curse, the curse returns to him, may Allah protect us from that. Let him know that the meaning of cursing is expulsion and distance from the mercy of Allah the Exalted, so let him fear Allah regarding himself. As for you, if you see that he does not increase in what he is doing except by persisting in it when advised, then there is no benefit in advising him, but ask Allah for his guidance. And if you see him on a day calm, gentle, and with an open chest, speak to him in a way that does not lead to his anger. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you, O Shaykh. The sister questioner from the 'Asir region says.
