Were there any supplications from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) upon seeing hail?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : What is the supplication reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) upon seeing hail?

The Shaykh : Nothing has been established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding this, but they mentioned from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) that whoever says: "Subhan Allah wa bihamdih" (Glory be to Allah and His is all praise) upon hail, then a lightning bolt will not strike him. And there is no room for opinion in a report like this. Ibn Abbas is known among the hadith scholars for taking from the Children of Israel, and they stipulated as a condition for a marfu' report in such matters that the Companion not be one known for taking from the Children of Israel. However, what the scholars of terminology said about this is subject to consideration, because Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) himself refuted those who take from the Children of Israel, as in al-Bukhari. So how could he refute people while he himself takes from them? That is far-fetched. So it is said: If the report from Ibn Abbas in this matter is authentic, then you say upon hail: "Subhan Allah wa bihamdih." As for thunder, Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him) used to cut off the hadith and say: "Glory be to Him who causes the thunder to glorify Him with His praise, and the angels out of fear of Him" Yes.
