If a person is invited to a gathering for a wedding or a regular invitation, and he knows that there is something wrong in it that he cannot forbid, what is required of him?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
O Shaykh, occasions may arise where a person is required to attend, such as the congregation. And something of what is wrong may occur in the gathering, such as smoking and the like, and he is unable to forbid it. So does he attend?

The Shaykh : If a person is invited to a gathering for a wedding or a regular invitation, and he knows that there is something wrong in it, if he is able to change it, such that the invited man has status and rank among his people, then it is obligatory for him, for two reasons:
The first: responding to the invitation.
The second: removing what is wrong.
As for if he knows that he is not able to change it, then it is not permissible for him to attend, because whoever attends what is wrong is like its doer.
And if he attends and he does not know that there will be something wrong there, and then the wrong occurs, he must advise and speak. If he is heeded, that is what is required. If he is not heeded, he must leave the gathering, whether whoever is pleased is pleased and whoever is angry is angry, because the pleasure of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) takes precedence over the pleasure of everyone.
