What is the ruling on one who leaves Riyadh intending to stay in Jeddah for three days and then goes to Makkah for 'Umrah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : A group, oh Shaykh, they left from Riyadh.

The Shaykh : Huh?

The questioner : A group left from Riyadh.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : To Jeddah, and they stayed there for three days. Their intention was that they would go to Jeddah and stay there for three days, then head to Makkah. When the three days were over and they were in Jeddah, they entered the state of ihram from the house, then they went to Makkah and performed 'Umrah. What is the ruling, oh Shaykh?

The Shaykh : Was their intention when they went to Jeddah that it was just Jeddah, and then if it was facilitated for them, they would perform 'Umrah?

The questioner : No.

The Shaykh : Was their intention 'Umrah from the beginning?

The questioner : Their intention was Jeddah, then 'Umrah.

The Shaykh : But they intended 'Umrah in this trip.

The questioner : Yes, yes.

The Shaykh : These people made a mistake. It is obligatory for them to enter the state of ihram from the miqat, perform the 'Umrah, and then go to Jeddah. Or, if they finished in Jeddah, they should return to the first miqat they passed and enter the state of ihram from there. If they came from Riyadh, it is obligatory for them that when they intended to enter the rites of pilgrimage, they should have gone to al-Sayl, which is Qarn al-Manazil, and entered the state of ihram from there. As for the matter being as I said: they entered the state of ihram from Jeddah, the scholars say that one who enters the state of ihram from other than the miqat is required to offer a sacrificial animal. A sacrificial animal means that he slaughters a fidyah in Makkah and distributes it to the poor. This is if he is wealthy. If he is poor, he should repent to Allah, and Allah does not burden a soul beyond its capacity.

The questioner : Okay, oh Shaykh: the young and the old?

The Shaykh : No, the young one owes nothing. I mean the young one who has not reached puberty?

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : The one who has not reached puberty.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : He owes nothing.
