Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : May Allah forgive you, O Shaykh. Now, regarding the issue of wearing the shemagh or the ghutrah, what is its ruling in the Shari'ah?

The Shaykh : What?

The questioner : What is the ruling in the Shari'ah for the shemagh or the ghutrah? Does it have a specific ruling?

The Shaykh : What do you want me to tell you?

The questioner : Because there has been a lot of talk about this issue. One person says: "There is no need for it, because it causes, meaning, it causes heat on the head."

The Shaykh : Meaning, we want to be bald.

The questioner : No, he says: "Meaning, we do not need to wear a shemagh."

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : He says: "We do not need to wear a shemagh." I do not know, meaning, what is the answer to the question?

The Shaykh : Tell him:
Say, "Who has forbidden the adornment of Allah which He has produced for His servants and the good [lawful] things of provision?"
[Al-A'raf 7:32]
This verse, then tell him another verse:
And do not say about what your tongues assert of untruth, "This is lawful and this is unlawful," to invent falsehood about Allah. Indeed, those who invent falsehood about Allah will not succeed.
[An-Nahl 16:116]
Do you understand? Yes.

The questioner : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
