Does a person do as the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did, reciting this verse to them so that they would leave?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : When he asked
and when you have eaten, disperse
[Al-Ahzab 33:53]
the man said, "Recite this verse..."
And take, [O believers], from the standing place of Abraham a place of prayer.
[Al-Baqarah 2:125]
We say this was the action of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), but this was the action of the man...?

The Shaykh : What action?

The questioner : When he would leave, he would say:
and when you have eaten, disperse
[Al-Ahzab 33:53]
.

The Shaykh : The man did not leave, nor was he told to sit, but Allah said to the one who was with him:
and when you have eaten, disperse without seeking to remain for conversation
[Al-Ahzab 33:53]
So, if one finds an event that testifies to a verse, or a verse that testifies to it, or one cites the verse in connection with it, there is no harm. When the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) came down from the pulpit to receive al-Hasan and al-Husayn and place them before him, he said: صدق الله : إنما أموالكم وأولادكم فتنة True is Allah: "Indeed, your wealth and your children are a trial" So, citing verses in connection with appropriate events is permissible. However, taking verses as a substitute for speech, as some ignorant people do, is not permissible, especially if they have no connection to the matter. As we heard, it was published in one of our magazines that the "falling woman" is the first wife, the "struck woman" is the second wife, and the "escape" from them is not to marry. Look, I seek refuge in Allah; meaning they distort the words from their places. This is undoubtedly forbidden.

The questioner : ...
if you support Allah, He will support you
[Muhammad 47:7]

The Shaykh : Likewise, applying verses to something other than what Allah intended is forbidden and not permissible. The author of *Jawahir al-Adab* mentioned a long, extended story about a woman he met; he kept talking to her, and every time he spoke, she would reply with a verse from the Qur'an. Among the things she replied with, when it came to her children, she said:
So send one of you with this silver coin of yours to the city and let him look to which is the best of food and bring you provision from it
[Al-Kahf 18:19]
meaning, "Go buy us breakfast or lunch." The verse came down in this context. He asked, "What is this?" He said, "This is our mother; she has been forty years old and has not spoken except with the Qur'an, fearing she might slip and the Most Merciful would be angry with her." And the truth is, she did slip with this slip, but ignorance is a problem; it is not correct. However, the story was mentioned in *Jawahir al-Adab*.

The questioner : About 'Abdullah ibn al-Mubarak.

The Shaykh : This is not authentic.

The questioner : It is told in the gatherings of some people who mention it...

The Shaykh : And the scholars (may Allah have mercy on them) said that it is forbidden to make the Qur'an a substitute for speech. But if it is mentioned occasionally on appropriate occasions, there is no harm. Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) mentioned this and said there is no harm in it, and this is correct. Citing verses is not a problem.

The questioner : For example, if one draws a picture of a plane, a bird flying with its wings, does one draw the verse? That is distortion.

The Shaykh : I seek refuge in Allah. This is opposition, not distortion. This is opposition to Allah and His Messenger. Drawing the verse in the shape of a bird, and the image-maker is cursed.
