Explanation of the Book of Foods-07b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Abu 'Aasim narrated to us from Haywah ibn Shurayh, who said: Rabi'ah ibn Yazid al-Dimashqi narrated to me, who said: Abu Daris al-Khawlani narrated to me, who said: Abu Thalhah al-Khushani narrated to me, who said:
I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, we are in the land of the People of the Book, so we eat from their vessels. And we are in a hunting land, so I hunt with my bow, and I hunt with my trained dog, and I hunt with my untrained dog. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: As for what you mentioned about being in the land of the People of the Book, do not eat from their vessels unless you find no alternative. If you find no alternative, wash them and eat. And as for what you mentioned about being in a hunting land, whatever you hunt with your bow, mention the name of Allah and eat. Whatever you hunt with your trained dog, mention the name of Allah and eat. And whatever you hunt with your untrained dog, if you catch it while it is still alive, eat it.
