If a person dies due to speeding, is he considered a suicide?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : His EminenceThe Shaykh : If a car driver drives at a speed that leads to an accident and he dies, is he called a suicide?

The Shaykh : I am presenting the question to you as I presented it to the brother who asked about the smoker: Did he speed in order to die?

The questioner : No.

The Shaykh : So he is not a suicide, but he has committed an error. One must avoid anything that is a cause of destruction, based on the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And do not kill yourselves [or one another] وَلا تَقْتُلُوا أَنْفُسَكُمْ
[An-Nisa 4:29]
Amr ibn al-As cited this verse as evidence that if a person exposes himself to cold from which he fears he will become ill, he has fallen under this verse. For Amr was sent by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on a military expedition, and he had major ritual impurity. The night was cold, so he performed dry ablution with clean earth and led his companions in prayer. After the return, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: Did you lead your companions in prayer while you were in a state of major ritual impurity? He said: O Messenger of Allah, I remembered the saying of Allah the Exalted: "And do not kill yourselves. Indeed, Allah is to you Merciful." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) laughed until his molars or his canines were visible. I agree with his use of this verse as evidence. Yes.

The questioner : A second question, oh Shaykh?

The Shaykh : No, the second one, if the people are finished.
